The Beginning
BBQ and Soul Patrol started the way most good food does — with a family recipe, a backyard cooker, and a steady stream of folks asking for seconds. What started as Sunday cookouts and church plates has grown into a real Indianapolis operation feeding the city the way home cooking is supposed to be: slow, soulful, and made with love.
We don't chase trends. We don't cut corners. We light the pit before sunrise, make the sides from scratch, and serve every plate like it's going to somebody's grandmother. Because half the time, it is.

The Method
Every brisket gets a slow smoke. Every rack of ribs gets dry-rubbed the night before. We burn hickory, oak, and Indiana fruitwood — never gas, never electric, never a shortcut. Sides get made every single morning, in real pots, by real hands. Hush puppies come out hot. Wild rice gets stirred till it's right.
It's how our people have always done it. So it's how we do it.
